Meet Butter + Gadget
The two dogs behind The Pastry Pups.
A thoughtfully planned litter starts with more than two cute dogs.
We considered temperament, size, health testing, genetics and the qualities each parent brings to the pairing before choosing Gadget for Butter’s one and only litter.
Very different personalities. A pairing chosen to complement both.
Butter
Multigen Mini Goldendoodle • ~19 lbs • DOB 4/3/2024
Butter is our homegrown girl, born and raised right here with us alongside her mom, Waffle. She’s generally a pretty chill dog who would happily spend a good portion of her day cuddled up with her family.
She’s also incredibly observant. If something in the house is out of place, something moves in the backyard or a dog has the absolute audacity to walk past her house, Butter notices. She’ll sound the alarm when necessary, then happily let her mom handle the investigation while she supervises from somewhere safe.
Butter is smart, but she’s also discovered the tremendous efficiency of letting other people do things for her. Fetch, for example, means you throw the ball, she retrieves it, and then you come get it. Work smarter, not harder.
Most of the time she’s content to relax, crunch ice, request belly rubs and follow her people around. When she decides it’s time to play, though, especially with her mom, that chill little personality temporarily leaves the building.
Gadget
Miniature Poodle • ~13.5 lbs
Gadget is the more energetic half of this pairing. He loves playing with his people and canine friends, but he’s equally enthusiastic about snuggling up with his family once playtime is over.
He’s social, affectionate and very people-oriented. His family describes him as a true Velcro dog who would much rather have someone home with him than wonder where everyone disappeared to.
Gadget enjoys being outside, loves a good round of zoomies and has recently discovered that fetch is actually pretty fun. He can also be a little conversational when he wants someone’s attention, so apparently Butter isn’t the only one with opinions.
He’s comfortable being groomed and has a soft, curly furnished coat.
Why Butter + Gadget?
Butter and Gadget aren’t identical dogs, and that was never the goal.
Butter brings a compact frame, a generally calm and affectionate temperament, strong Poodle influence and the coat traits we value in a Mini Goldendoodle. Gadget adds a smaller Miniature Poodle frame, an outgoing and social personality, and complementary coat and color genetics.
We’re hoping their puppies inherit the best pieces of both: small size, intelligent and affectionate companion temperaments, furnished curly-to-fleece coats and the confidence to settle into everyday family life.
Genetics also gives this pairing an unusually broad range of possible colors and patterns, but that part is the icing. Temperament, health and how these puppies are raised remain the priorities.
